The E-1608 is a high-performance, cost-effective multifunction I/O DAQ device that features a high-speed Ethernet interface for continuous real-time data transfers. It is equipped with a built-in 10/100 BASE-T auto-negotiation, high-speed communication port that uses TCP/IP and UDP networking protocols. Once networked, the device can be remotely accessed and configured via software from anywhere on the network, although it does not operate as a standalone data logger and requires software for active communication over Ethernet.
The device offers a variety of inputs and outputs. It provides 16-bit analog inputs that are software-selectable as either four differential or eight single-ended inputs, supporting input ranges of +/-10 V, +/-5 V, +/-2 V, and +/-1 V that are software-selectable per channel. Additionally, it has two 16-bit, software-paced analog outputs that can be updated at a rate of 500 S/s, with a fixed output range of +/-10 V.
The E-1608 also features an external digital trigger input, which can be software-selected for either edge- or level-sensitive mode. The edge-sensitive mode can be configured for either a rising or falling edge, while the level-sensitive mode can be configured for either a high or low level. The default setting at power up is edge-sensitive, rising edge.
Furthermore, the device has eight bidirectional digital I/O bits that are individually configurable for input or output. The digital I/O terminals can detect the state of any TTL-level input, and bits can be configured for pull-up (+5V) or pull-down (0 V) with an onboard jumper. It also includes one 32-bit event counter that can count TTL pulses, accepting inputs of up to 10 MHz. Lastly, the E-1608 has one external clock input and one clock output for analog inputs.
