Arty A7 Overview
The Digilent Arty A7 FPGA/SoC board is a versatile and flexible tool, designed with adaptability in mind. It stands out from other Single Board Computers due to its ability to switch between different sets of processing peripherals. It can function as a communication hub filled with UARTs, SPIs, IICs, and an Ethernet MAC, or serve as a precise timekeeper with numerous 32-bit timers.
The Arty A7 is a plug-and-play development platform built around the Xilinx's Artix-7 Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The board, equipped with Artix-7 devices, offers the highest performance-per-watt fabric, transceiver line rates, DSP processing, and AMS integration. The MicroBlaze Soft Processor Core from Xilinx allows for the creation of embedded applications with a wide range of peripherals, memory, and interfaces.
Xilinx's Vivado Design Suite, including the complimentary WebPACK version, supports the Arty A7. The Vitis Core Development Kit or Xilinx Software Development Kit can be utilized to begin development for the MicroBlaze processor, even without prior FPGA experience.
