The device is equipped with four LEDs that indicate compliance with IEEE802.3af or 802.3at/bt standards. It can identify the type/class of Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), power source, polarity, voltage, current, power, and whether it is End Span (1/2, 3/6), Midspan (4/5, 7/8), or across all four pairs.

The tester is also capable of distinguishing between standard PoE (36 to 60V) and non-standard passive PoE (11 to 60V), making it versatile for various PoE configurations. It features two yellow LEDs for reversed polarity power type indication.

In addition, the POE3000 offers inline power level monitoring, alternating between displaying Voltage, Current, and Power. It includes a step button for selecting specific data to display. The device operates on system power when connected, eliminating the need for batteries.
