SB140 Sound Beacon

The Fluke SB140 Sound Beacon is specifically crafted for applications requiring precision in detecting tightness and is designed to be used alongside Fluke acoustic imagers. It emits ultrasound at a frequency of 40 kHz, which travels through the air with minimal loss. This enables sound within an enclosed area to escape through a leak pathway and be captured by the Fluke camera for visualization. The Fluke acoustic imagers are highly sensitive to the SB140’s ultrasound frequency, allowing potential leak locations to be visually displayed on the screen. Using the imager in "Beacon Mode" simplifies the process even further, as the frequency filter is preset and focused on 40 kHz.

It comes equipped with an acoustic array composed of minute, highly sensitive microphones that produce a range of decibel levels for each frequency. Utilizing this data, an algorithm generates a sonic image, termed as SoundMap, which is overlaid on a visual image. The SoundMap adjusts automatically based on the chosen frequency level, effectively eliminating background noise. This makes the detection of compressed gas leaks remarkably straightforward. The on-device analysis software included in LeakQ estimate a leak's size and cost. The integrated visual- and textual tagging and annotation functionalities offer important details to optimize reporting and follow-up actions.
